Calandra Damouras

American soprano Calandra Damouras is gaining recognition for her rich and sonorous tone and deeply expressive artistry. A passionate performer, she brings emotional nuance and technical command to every performance.

​

Calandra earned her Master of Music degree from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts where she studied under world-renowned soprano, Ms. Jane Eaglen. She also holds a Bachelor of Music degree from The Crane School of Music, where she was in the studio of Dr. Colleen Skull.

​

During her time with the award-winning Crane Opera Ensemble, Calandra brought to life roles such as Edith in The Pirates of Penzance, Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, and originated the role of Valeria in the world premiere of Tom Cipullo’s opera MAYO. At NEC, she portrayed the First Lady in Die Zauberflöte under the baton of Maestro Robert Tweten, sang in the ensemble of Dido and Aeneas, and performed in the scenes program as La Contessa (Le Nozze di Figaro), Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte), and Mimì (La Bohème).

Following her graduation in 2023, Calandra sang with the Janiec Opera Company at the Brevard Music Center, working under the direction of Dean Anthony. There, she covered the role of the Governess in Britten’s The Turn of the Screw, performed Jack’s Mother in Sondheim’s Into the Woods, and appeared in the ensemble of La Traviata.

In summer 2024, she was a young artist with the Boston Wagner Institute, where she performed scenes from Die Walküre (Sieglinde), Das Rheingold (Wellgunde), and covered the role of Elisabeth in Tannhäuser. Most recently, Ms. Damouras was featured in concert with Opera Saratoga, celebrating exceptional vocal talent from New York’s Capital District, where she currently resides.

Ms. Damouras was the 2020 First Place Winner of The Neva Stevens Pilgrim Award for Civic Morning Musicals and the 2021 recipient of The Olive Dillenbeck Goodrich Memorial Award.
